Is being “Skinny Fat” dangerous?

What’s the Skinny? The Hidden Dangers of ‘Skinny Fat’

DALLAS – What’s the skinny on skinny fat?

“I have not heard of skinny fat,” shopper Ron Friday said.

“I have never heard of it until right now,” Tomas Ortiz mentioned.

Aw, you know, that slender Susie or Sam that hasn’t worked out in years and can eat everything in sight and still have a slender bod?

“I’ve known people who can eat anything they want, like my brother. He’s really slim,” Michelle added.

According to Time, don’t let the skinny shape fool ya. Yep, folks who look good on the outside, but not so much on the inside. They may be carrying the most dangerous type of fat.

Performance Group Xercise might be new to DFW, but what they’re not new to is knowing how to combat the skinny fat.

“So, if they’re not really getting into weight lifting, building lean muscle mass, we want to make sure that we take care of that,” Erik DeCarvalho, owner of Performance Group Xercise said.

Yeah, these workouts are no joke.

“Whether you’re just getting off the couch or working out 5-6 days a week, fitness is a part of it. Nutrition’s a huge part of it,” DeCarvalho said.

That’s right! As the saying goes, abs are made in the kitchen.

“Diet sodas and those little diet bags of cookies, you’re going, ‘hey I only at 400 calories today.’ But your body is starving.  We all want to look good, but more importantly is feeling good,” Jessica Ventouras Founder and CEO at Boom Juice said.

You might not be able to see diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure from the outside. Looks like it’s really what’s on the inside that counts.
